A Shout Out of Gratitude to TD Bank, Dalhousie Station

Over the holiday break the Friends of Hawkwood School Society were gifted a very generous donation from TD Bank in Dalhousie Station

Our lovely Council Social Coordinator, Rosanna, had been in touch with the Branch Manager at TD in the fall when looking for sponsors for the special events Hawkwood School Council organizes throughout the school year and they said, "How about a cheque for $1,000?"

Support like this from our community bring us lots of joy and gratitude. Check out our smiles when we stopped by to pick up the donation:

As with all of the Society's fundraising efforts, this money will go towards paying for those extras we're lucky to have at our school – special programs, materials and resources that enrich the educational experience for all students at Hawkwood School.

Thank you TD Bank, Dalhousie Station!

ADmazing Coupon Book: Money in Your Pocket & For the School

I'm not a coupon clipper so having the ADmazing Savings book is perfect for me. There are deals on kid-friendly restaurants, clothing stores, grocery stores, hair salons, theatres, ski hills, indoor activity centres, and more.

Do you need an oil change? Check the book for savings!

Do you have some art (maybe your kid's school work) worth framing? Check the book for savings!

Does everybody in your house need new winter boots? Check the book for savings!

Do you want to go play laser tag with your kids? Check the book for savings!

Or better yet, does your family want a quick getaway to or away from the snow? Check the book for savings!

This year when you purchase an ADmazing Savings Ticket Pack you also get access to the mobile app for free. This means that checking for opportunities to save got even easier and you're never without your book. I usually leave mine in my car for this exact reason but now I'll easily double check for discounts before making a purchase throughout this upcoming year.

$10.50 from every book sold goes back to Hawkwood School through the Friends of Hawkwood School Society.

This is a huge benefit as all money raised goes towards enriching the learning experience for our kids throughout their elementary years. Our kids will benefit from up-to-date technology, artists in residence and special physical education programs, and not to mention busing for field trips.

In addition, all students who return order forms are entered into a draw for prizes. This is a win-win-win fundraising initiative for Hawkwood School.

We thank you for your support!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the Friends of Hawkwood School Society via email.

Happy shopping and happy savings!

Volunteering & Fundraising IMPACT Infographic

"Use a picture. It's worth a thousand words." And so we have. Below is an infographic that depicts our volunteering and fundraising efforts and their impressive impact on our school community.

Let your eyes do the talking and give yourself some kudos!

A New Council Member + A New Bulletin Board = Hallway Art

Finding the best ways to communicate with Hawkwood School families is always a priority for School Council and Society. This year we're excited to be using one of the bulletin boards that's right in the school's entryway; a higher traffic zone for kids and parents alike.

Our new Secretary, Kim D., already started to put her creative talents up on the wall over this past week. Here's a peek at what you can see when you come for a visit at Hawkwood School:

Throughout the year Kim will update this board to list "feature presentations" and "up 'n coming" school events. We hope you find the new Council & Society bulletin board informative and useful, and even fun to look at!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow... Happy December, everyone! As we settle into our winter wonderland and head toward the holiday sea...
