Prizes Galore for ADmazing Book Sales

Welcome back everyone!

The 2019-2020 school year is going to be so much fun at Hawkwood School. Did you know that all students will be working on writing, composing and acting out an opera this year? We can’t wait to see the final production in May!

The Friends of Hawkwood School Society is already working hard to raise funds that go directly to enhancing the educational experience for students here at Hawkwood School. We do this through traditional fundraisers, like the ADmazing Savings Ticket Pack, and most importantly special events that bring us together as a community.

This year’s ADmazing Savings Ticket Pack are on sale now. For $25 you get a coupon book and a mobile app. Savings include things like $10 off treats at DQ, $50 at Banff & Jasper Hotels, $50 towards Skiing/Golf, $50 off at Stage West, $10 off Oil Changes, discounts for The Big Box, Laser City and many more attractions, restaurants and services.

The BIG NEWS this year is that we have AMAZING PRIZES for ADmazing sellers:

  • TOP PRIZE = Sell the most books and win A BIKE!
  • GRAND PRIZES = four (4) additional draws:
    • $50 Amazon gift card
    • $25 Amazon gift card
    • $25 Amazon gift card
    • $25 Amazon gift card
  • MONTHLY DRAWS (September - November) = $10 gift card for 7-11

For every coupon book sold, an entry is made in the student's name for both the monthly and grand prize draws. The monthly draws will be done at the end of each month (three draws total) and the grand prizes will be drawn on December 2nd, 2019. On this day the winner of the bike will also be announced.

Happy selling everyone, good luck, and enjoy your discount coupons throughout the year!

Next up, we are helping our school librarian host a Used Book Fair to ensure students have the chance to purchase new-to-them books at the low cost of just 50¢. This is a fabulous way to engage young readers.

WHEN:  Tues. March 19th to Thurs. March 21st

VOLUNTEERS:  On average four volunteers are needed per day to help with set-up, sales and take-down. Please consider helping out, even one hour goes a long way. Every bit of support ultimately helps foster the joy of reading in our young students.

>> If you are interested in helping out, sign up here or contact us directly at hawkwoodsc@gmail.com

BOOK DONATIONS:  Spread the word beyond our walls and tell family and friends that gently used books are needed for our sale. In particular we are short on young reader and young adult books that are appropriate for ages 6-12. All books can be dropped off in the front foyer - please notify office staff when doing so. Thank you!

Both of these events are a fundraiser supported by Friends of Hawkwood School Society. All proceeds go towards programs, materials and resources that enrich the educational experience for all students at Hawkwood School. To see our positive impact, click here.

A Shout Out of Gratitude to TD Bank, Dalhousie Station

Over the holiday break the Friends of Hawkwood School Society were gifted a very generous donation from TD Bank in Dalhousie Station

Our lovely Council Social Coordinator, Rosanna, had been in touch with the Branch Manager at TD in the fall when looking for sponsors for the special events Hawkwood School Council organizes throughout the school year and they said, "How about a cheque for $1,000?"

Support like this from our community bring us lots of joy and gratitude. Check out our smiles when we stopped by to pick up the donation:

As with all of the Society's fundraising efforts, this money will go towards paying for those extras we're lucky to have at our school – special programs, materials and resources that enrich the educational experience for all students at Hawkwood School.

(Click here to see the impact of Council & Society's efforts.)

Thank you TD Bank, Dalhousie Station!
